Upcoming Advocacy Events

July 27: Period Party Comedy Fundraiser at Broads Lounge (124 E 10th St) at 6:30 pm. Bring period product donations for admission!

July 31: “Letters to our Leaders” party, led by a local Chattanooga area high school student, to write for funding for the “Menstrual Hygiene Product Accessibility Act”. Join us at the Society of Work (110 Somerville Ave) where we will have pizza and ice cream while we write short letters to our legislators.

September 12
: Lunch event with Women Judges in downtown Chattanooga. More details to come.

September 24: VOICES Luncheon - Advocacy through Adversity with Dr. Shae Connor, a board-certified and fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologist, and Stacy Martin, a stomach cancer survivor, entrepreneur and advocate, discussing women’s health and advocacy.

Summer 2025: Writing letters to the Governor to fund the Menstrual Hygiene Bill. Join us in-person with PostScript Pizza on July 10 at 6:30-8pm at Society of Work (110 Somerville Ave) 

May 12 - 18, 2025
: Period Poverty Awareness Week. Join us as we collect period products to stock Hamilton County Schools Care Closets! Information about drop off locations can be found HERE. And you may shop online any time using the Amazon Wish List.

May 14, 2025: Period Poverty Awareness Week Panel and Lunch. Join us at the Chattanooga library as we listen to two speakers talk about period poverty and women’s health. To learn more please click HERE.

April 30, 2025: Lunchtime Legislative Policy Debrief. Join us on Wednesday, April 30th via ZOOM. This online meeting is open to everyone interested in learning about our advocacy work, and outcomes from first year of the 114th General Assembly (2025-2026).

March 11, 2025: Bold and Brave. WFGC and the Tennessee Women's Fund Alliance hosted our 3rd annual Bold and Brave in Nashville. Students and adults from across the state spent the day learning about policy and advocacy!

February 25, 2025: We are having postcard parties to write postcards for the “Menstrual Hygiene Product Accessibility Act” - putting period products in TN public high school bathrooms. Come by the Society of Work (110 Somerville Ave) or our office (5715 Uptain Rd, Ste 300) to write a few postcards with sample language or personal stories - we will take care of address and postage!

February 11, 2025: Lunchtime Legislative & Advocacy Update. Join us on Tuesday, February 11th via ZOOM. Elaine Patterson, WFGC Advocacy Chair, and Melody Shekari, WFGC Executive Director, will be talking about bills at the state level & local updates.
